The largest island of the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia lies between Lefkada and Zakynthos, covering an area of 781 sq km and witha population of about 35,000 inhabitants. The capital of Kefalonia is Argostoli. Other large towns include Lixouri, Poros, Sami and Skala.
